Supporting mental health in the workplace
Healthy employees are happier and more productive. Looking after mental health is just as important as physical health. People may go through phases where their long term or fluctuating mental or physical health condition can become acute and they need help. Supporting mental health in the workplace training will make a lasting difference on peoples knowledge and confidence enabling early detection of mental ill health and how to respond and support someone when faced with it.
There is still a great deal to be done in raising awareness for both employers and employees in reducing the stigma and discrimination around mental health. Someone with mental ill health may not be aware they have it, but for those that are aware they may be reluctant or embarrassed to seek help or may not know where to get it. This means that those who are in need of mental health recognition and support do not receive it.
